Note: this project might be a bit challenging, however, this project is meant for parents and children to work together! So, get out your recycling goods and start making art! Enjoy!
Materials:1 empty scope mouthwash bottle
1 brown paper bag (big enough to fit the mouthwash bottle just right)
1 yellow fabric
1-2 piece(s) of cardboard (one should have some yellow and red in it, like the one in the picture)
1 string (any color, can be more then one up to you)
1 old magazine (or a few from the magazine/newspaper ads are fine too)
and a bottle of glue + clear tape + scissors
(Making the Turkey body)
1. Rise out the bottle of mouthwash then fill up ¼ of the bottle with water. Make sure the outside bottle is dry.
2. Put the bottle inside the brown bag.
3. Bunch up the bag at the neck of the bottle. Use a string to tie a bow around the bag at the neck of the bottle.
4. Cut the yellow fabric into a long rectangle. Wrap it around the top of the bottle (where the cap is at). Glue or tape it together. Then at the top, fold and glue down the left and right side; fold and glue or tape down the top part.
5. Use the rest of the yellow fabric to cut out the wings of the turkey. (Cut into two triangles then on one corner cut a zigzag line down).
6. Use the red and yellow part of the cardboard to cut out a beak and red dangling thing on the bottom of the beak…
7. Glue them on the turkey head (yellow fabric part). Right on top of the beak draw two eyes for the turkey.
1. Use the colorful pages of the magazine to cut out the feathers of the turkey. You will need 11 “feathers” or more up to you.
2. Paste the “feathers” pieces one both sides of the cardboard. Be sure to cover up the cardboard with the magazine papers.
3. Cut out a small rectangle/square and tape it to the bottom of the turkey tail.
(Putting it all together)1. Tape the yellow wings to the sides of the turkey body.
2. Tape the small rectangle/square on the tail to the bottom of the turkey so that the tail part can be shown in the back of the turkey.
3. Roll up a piece of tape and tape the bottom portion of the tail and the back of the turkey body together.
4. SHOULD HAVE THIS IN THE END…
I hope you had a lot of fun making this Happy Turkey and made good use of your recycling materials! Remember, you can substitute materials I used with other materials you want to reuse-reduce-recycle. Be creative, enjoy, and feel the arts!
From all of us,
Happy Thanksgiving!
